Getting Around Trogir

Choosing a destination for your European vacation can sometimes be overwhelming.  Finding a perfect locale while also staying within a budget seems almost impossible.  However, there is one place in Europe that offers travelers beauty, relaxation, and fun without breaking the bank:  Trogir, Croatia.  This area is located along the Eastern coastline of the Adriatic Sea.   It is a small island situated between the mainland of Croatia and the island of Ciovo.  Trogir is not very well known throughout most of the world.  But once you see what this beautiful island has to offer, you’ll wonder why it isn’t a top tourist destination.  

There are many ways to reach Trogir, Croatia, whether you choose a plane, boat or even car it is up to you – each method of transportation will provide marvelous scenic views and a festive and friendly atmosphere for you to travel in. After all, tourism does account for 50% of Trogir’s income. The Croatian Kuna is its currency of choice, though the Euro is widely accepted in nearly all restaurants, stores and shops in Trogir.

When visiting Trogir, the main attraction is the Adriatic Sea.  In many ways, Trogir is comparable to Venice in that the architecture has definitely been defined by the surrounding water.  If you are going to the Dalmation Coast, do include lovely Split in your itinerary. From Split, it's just a short way to charming old Trogir. Multiple charter cruises are available to tourists, all offering a different view of the Adriatic.  Another can’t miss attraction is the Fortress Kamerlengo.  Located on the western part of the island, this fortress was built by Venetians in the 9th and 10th centuries as a naval base.  It is now used as an outdoor theater.  The Town Museum is also popular with tourists.  This museum explains the rich history and culture of Trogir and its people.

The restaurants of Trogir are well known for their Mediterranean cuisine that is also well-priced and delicious.  Fontana Restaurant is located on the waterfront and locals and tourists alike can’t get enough of their amazing seafood specialties.  The End is located in the middle of Old Town and are well known for their Italian food.  Perhaps the most celebrated restaurant in Trogir is Alka.  It has a quaint atmosphere and the food is out of this world!
